Contrary to reports, Port Au Basques turned out to be a very interesting port of call. However, all good things must come to an end. We have decided to sail East along the Southwest coast of Newfoundland. As one proceeds East the coastal terrain becomes more mountainous. I apologize for the hazy photos but whenever it was not outright foggy, the humidity levels remained very high.
The harsh climate does not allow for the growth of trees in this tundra climate, except in very sheltered spots.
Hunting/fishing cabins are often found in the most remote spots. The owners were going fishing for the day but they kindly invited us (two complete strangers) over for beverages when they returned.
Here comes the fog again.
"Evergreen" in Little Garia Bay, as seen from the top of a hill. We had to hike up the hill in order to get the VHF weather report. VHF signal transmission is pretty much 'line of sight' so it is difficult to get reports in the fjords.
Mother Nature rules here.
Another cute saying: Live on the edge, or else you take up too much space. (Thanks Linda)
