Goodbye Penobscot Bay:

Entering the Sheepscot River for the last time this season:

The sun was setting on a wonderful summer:

When you live on an island you must have a means to get heavy loads, and your vehicles, to the island.

A beautiful ending:

The late season tropical systems are having an influence:

If you stand too tall you will have your head in the clouds:

Before you go home may we buy some lobster?

Sure - Ok, I'll take 17 pounds:

Heavy weather rig:

Ok, "We know you have some lobster left over". Sorry, afraid not.

Do we really need a sign to show us the way?

This is the harbor - must be interesting on the outside:

This late in the season, we are the only boat in Valley Cove.

HEADING WEST - SEPTEMBER 20TH 2010

We decided to take advantage of favorable winds and head west along the coast. The seas were still up, but we had a fast passage back to the Mt Desert area.

The coast is still lined with lighthouses, but now they are all automated.

You would not want to be caught in that mess.

When we anchored safely in Valley Cove the sun was setting and it seemed like the forest was on fire.

The moon was rising as the sun went down. What a privilege to be able the witness nature at its best.
