A RUN FOR THE STATES - LAST OF AUGUST 2010

A hurricane is on the way and we don't feel very secure on our mooring in Halifax. So, we rose with the sun and headed for Shelburne, Nova Scotia. As we passed out of the Halifax Harbor, large container ships were coming in.

This is the lighthouse off of Halifax Harbor:

As we approached Shelburne we realized that we had a good weather window, that we would benefit from if we continued on to the States. Since the hurricane was coming on strong we decided to bypass Shelburne (one of our favorite stops) and run for it. This would be a double overnight passage but seemed like the wise thing to do. This the our final sunset while in Canadian waters.

As it turned out the hurricane went right through Halifax.
