SAILING EAST TO MT. DESERT - 2ND WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 2010

The winds had abated, so it was time to sail East, and do some exploring. Here Evergreen is anchored at High and Birch Islands.



As we entered West Penobscott Bay we passed Owl's Head Light.



The hills of Camden:



Intermittent showers followed us up the Bay, towards Eggomoggin Reach. We benefited from the winds associated with these storms.





We anchored at Buck's Harbor for the night. An old work boat at rest:





Windjammers often use this anchorage. Pictured here is "Angelique". She was built to be a "Head Boat".



The "Stephen Taber", a "Head Boat" converted from a "work boat":





Heading out in the morning. Note the "Push Boat" astern. These are helpful since many of the windjammers have no engines.
